We had a great stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Upgrading to the Gold service was the best decision we made. We were able to request and receive information about all the activities in the area and select the ones that we felt were best for us. The team put together a great plan that was not a go-go-go all the time allowing us to relax on our vacation. Staying at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise also made it much easier to visit the other locations like Lake Moraine, Emerald Lake, Columbia Ice Fields and Banff as the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is in the middle of all of them making the drive to the other spots much shorter than if we stayed in Banff. The team selected the top tier of the visits to the attractions like the Ice Odesey which was a much better experience of 5-6 people on a much more engaging tour of the glacier than the larger vehicle of ~50 people. When we checked in, all our tickets were ready and printed along with the itinerary. The best part was that the day we were to visit Banff, it was raining there. So the team switched our bookings between Banff and the Columbia Ice fields, insuring we never had to deal with the bad weather. Great job by Jenny & Isabella. Read less

Fairmont Lake Louise was the epitome of luxury and excellent service. Fairmont Gold Lakeview room was absolutely beautiful, comfortable and great view. The food and services were of the highest level I have ever experienced.

Oh Fairmont, where to begin? Location: The location is spectacular and truly awe-inspiring. It looks exactly like the pictures at the foot of Lake Louise. Stunning! Hotel: The hotel itself is overrated and disappointing. My sheets were torn, the bathroom was so small I had to use a glass to rinse after brushing, and the air conditioner roared so loudly that it woke me up at night. I was more than willing to endure it all for the 10-star view ---- because that's what you are really paying for! The hotel is old and some parts of it still are not air-conditioned, like the Library area (and it was old and musty-smelling, with no lake views). There was no baggage service at the door so my trip started off with a reality check that this is not a true 5-star hotel as I dragged by bags inside after traveling for 13 hours. Food: I had lunch at Lakeview Lounge on my last day and it was fantastic! The service was great and the Walleye Fish and Chips was delicious. The only issue was that the heater was on (it was 80's temps), and apparently had been on for many months despite complaints to maintenance. The buffet breakfast at Louiza left a lot to be desired. You have to wait to be seated, and when you get inside you are given a menu to order hot foods (hopefully they explain it to you because no one explained a thing to me as I sat puzzled). You get cold items (bread, yogurt, fruit) from the buffet and they bring out your hot item. The scrambled eggs looked and tasted like egg-substitute or powdered eggs. The sausage was tough and hard to cut on more than one breakfast. There was some sliced fruit on day one, but lots of it was whole -- whole pears, whole oranges, who eats that with breakfast? On subsequent days they had berries and melons. I ordered pancakes one day and they were barely warm -- the butter would not even melt on them. I think they had a bunch of pre-cooked food in the kitchen and just plated it when you ordered --- it came out within 5 or so minutes and did not taste fresh at all. You really have no other options unless you go to the Pantry for grab-and-go food that is EXTREMELY overpriced. A cup of melons was $9 CAD. Room: The room was very nice, except for the small bathroom. If you've been to Europe it's not much different. The Lakeview King is exactly that, with a gorgeous view of Lake Louise out of your window. Amazing! Don't use the iron, though. Mine spewed all over my white t-shirt and I've yet to get the stains out. Other: Another reviewer mentioned the signs all over that "warn" that most areas are for registered guests. Even though I was one, it seemed very elitist and a bit annoying. I get it, though, because there are lots of people outside the hotel gates who've come to see Lake Louise. I will say that I complained to the Manager on my first morning, and he was very sympathetic. He took $100 off my bill and comped me my 2 remaining breakfasts. And the head of housekeeping came by to apologize in person. If you keep in mind that you are paying for the view and location, you can probably ignore all these faults --- as I did. I just don't think I would stay there again. I paid something like $1200 CAD per night, when the same beautiful view is free. Read less

W O W. - what an amazing hotel and experience. From a seamless check in and our bags delivered promptly to our room minutes after us arriving was a great start. A quick walk to the executive lounge to check it out was nice to see (just wish it had a better view of the lake itself) but the draft and options available including an awesome breakfast and evening canapés and drinks could not be faulted. The staff here, quite a few Aussies too, are all friendly and seem to love their job and it helps to make your stay even better. The hotel is immaculate and beautiful and it’s worth 18 stars. The Lakeview lounge and bar is fantastic with great views and exceptional staff and yummy food. Nothing is cheap here and you’ve got your hand in your pocket often but it’s worth it. The walks from the hotel along the Lake are breathtaking and you have to walk up to Lake Agnes and the tea house (albeit strenuous) and do the voyager canoe ride late in the day to enjoy the lake and stories. It’s taken me 62 years to come here but it was worth the wait. Thank you so much 🥰 Read less

We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise from July 5 to 7 as a family, and it truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This historic hotel, first built in 1890, combines tradition with comfort. Our one-bedroom suite had clearly been renovated and was in excellent condition, with plenty of space for our family to relax. The biggest highlight was, of course, the view of Lake Louise right outside our window. Morning, midday, and sunset all painted the lake in different colors — my daughter loved sitting by the window and sketching the scene, while we simply couldn’t stop taking photos. Having a dedicated concierge made the stay even more special. Alexandra Bentham was assigned to us, and she was simply outstanding. From before we even arrived, she helped arrange everything — shuttle tickets to Moraine Lake, dinner reservations, and little details that made traveling with a child much easier. She treated us with genuine care, and our family is so grateful to her. We also tried canoeing on Lake Louise together, which became one of the most memorable moments of our trip. My daughter still talks about how magical it felt to be on that turquoise water, surrounded by mountains. It was expensive, but absolutely worth it. During our stay there was some construction on one side of the garden, but it was nearly finished and didn’t disturb us. In fact, it looks like the new facility will only add to the property’s appeal once completed. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently warm and friendly, which made us feel welcome as a family. Yes, staying here during peak season is costly, but when you’re sitting in your room, watching the lake change throughout the day, you realize it’s an experience money can’t really measure. If we return to Banff, there’s no doubt we will stay here again. Read less
