We enjoyed every restaurant and the beach servers keep the drinks coming. The bartenders are entertaining and talented. We spent an amazing week in an over the water bungalow in September (2025). This was our second time at South Coast and we have already booked another trip back. We wanted to say a big thank you to our butlers - Leon, Jody and our main man Ernie. They provided an outstanding memorable experience for us and took care of our every need. Ernie stepped up big time as unfortunately Leon, while trying to push though, was not feeling himself - Leon, we hope you have recovered and are feeling better. Jody was able to step in and help Ernie over a few days and did a wonderful job. Ernie - from the moment you greeted us, until you waved us goodbye, you were fantastic and went the extra mile for us so many times. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and were appreciative of the time you spend with us talking about the island and your country. There were many others who made the trip wonderful as one would expect at Sandals, but one last shout out goes to bartender Steve at the French swim-up bar - he was over the top friendly, made amazing drinks which were always accompanied with a huge smile. We were looking forward to a vacation that we had booked at another Sandals Jamaican resort, staying in an amazing Penthouse Sky pool suite all details were meticulously planned. Then six days before our vacation everything changed, we received a phone call from Sandals stating that due to issues with the accommodation at our chosen resort we were being transferred to South Coast. We were devastated as we had a disastrous reunion week at South Coast in April and had no wish to go back, we never feel at home here, more like observers from the periphery. We had no option at this late stage as it would incur a large financial loss, so we went to South Coast and had another disappointing week that was just an absolute waste of time and money. We were promised 'awesome' perhaps they meant 'awful' Butler service or lack of ..... We always have butler service included as it comes with the high category rooms we prefer, it was so lacking here compared to what we are used to at other locations. Four days a week the butler service here finishes at 8pm, our arrival at the resorts is often later than this, butlers offering a full day service are still there to greet you. Butler service from lunchtime was non existent so it's self service, we had considered terminating it after a few days rather waiting hours for stuff that never arrived. There are plenty of chairs available at the pools and the beach and the restaurants have plenty of availability, butler service was not essential. Butlers at other resorts, always deliver your room service orders and set up a table with a table cloth and served it to you, poured a drink for you, not so here. Turn down is at 6pm here, we are usually showering, at other resorts they will return to the higher category rooms later on, or the butlers will prepare your room for the night, clear up the bar area and replace the ice and decorate the bed, draw a bath. It was tough but here we had to sort it out ourselves, like being at home! Food and beverage. We mostly had breakfast at Schooners, Crystal and all the staff (too many to name) are delightful, such a pleasure. Dinner. In the evening, the staff at the other restaurants were mostly very friendly, except Neptunes, where we seemed to inconvenience them but we soon left. Food is subjective so opinions vary, we struggled to eat anything at dinner, poor quality inedible meats, shrimps and fish were so overcooked you needed a steak knife if you were to attempt eating it, we didn't bother. So much advertising hype at Sandals, Gourmet, culinary adventure...... most of the food served is not even of your basic domestic kitchen standard, it is cold, tepid at best, thrown together, no presentation, except at the V.I.P. lunch and at Giuseppe's. Giuseppe's was excellent in every way, Camile our server so welcoming. Federico the manager is wasted here, he is so friendly a lovely person, we had many interesting conversations, he is very knowledgeable about food (and football)! We recommend the salmon, snapper and the chicken parmigiana, all perfectly cooked and presented. Bar staff. Evening staff at Neptunes bar and Schooners bar were lovely, even if they didn't have half the ingredients needed to make the cocktail of your choice. We are at Sandals ambassador level so have experienced all of Sandals resorts many times with varying degrees of success. The highlight of our stay? When the taxi came to take us to the airport. Would we come back? We certainly hope not, can't afford to waste any more money. Read less

Our new favourite! We have just returned from a split stay, one week at Negril and one week at SSC. We had a great week at Negril, but the second we walked through the doors into the lobby at SSC, met and had a conversation with the very personable and lovely Ernie, we knew we had found something special. The grounds, planting and landscape literally took my breath away, it’s a stunning resort. We stayed in the OWB with the best butler team we have ever had, Rayon and Stephen. We really felt like we got to know these two gentlemen an a personal level, we felt like we had made new friends. Despite Rayons football team losing 3:0 he maintained good humour throughout! They anticipated our needs before we even knew we needed anything, and we had a lot of laughs. I remember the sights, meals and sunsets from every vacation, but it’s the people I meet that stay with me, and Rayon and Stephen aced customer service and I feel privileged to have met them. When we return next year we will be requesting the dream team again. We had great meals, love the feel and layout of the resort and enjoyed that it was a large resort so everyone had lots of space. Every employee interaction we had was positive. We had a chat with Malcolm the gardener one day about the gardens and the mongoose that you may see diving into a hole! Malcolm was very knowledgeable and I hope to track him down next year for a garden tour. I can’t recommend SSC high enough just book it! Read less
