I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal. The overall experience fell far below expectations for a hotel of this reputation. Upon check-in in the afternoon, we requested a kettle at the reception. We were told to first check the room as there was a coffee maker, and if needed, a kettle would be sent. After entering the room, we called to request the kettle again and were told it would be delivered shortly. After waiting 10 minutes, we followed up and emphasized that we needed it urgently as we were heading out for lunch. We were again assured it would arrive immediately. Unfortunately, after waiting an additional 20 minutes, no one came, and we had no choice but to leave. In the evening, we encountered a more serious issue — the shower only had extremely hot water, with no ability to adjust the temperature. We contacted reception, and instead of resolving the issue, we were told the only solution was to move to another room. After a long and tiring day, we were then asked to repack all our belongings. The staff said someone would assist us within 10 minutes, but after 15 minutes, no one arrived. We attempted to call reception again, but no one answered despite multiple attempts over several minutes. Eventually, we had to go down to the front desk ourselves. When we raised concerns about the slow and unprofessional service, a staff member named Tao Daumas responded by telling us that we needed to “respect them as they are busy.” However, at that time, there was only one customer checking in while other staff appeared idle. This response was both inappropriate and disappointing. Overall, the service was inefficient, unresponsive, and lacked basic professionalism. This was not the standard we expected from a DoubleTree property. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning. Read less

Free buffet breakfast with Hilton status in breakfast dining room. Room bathroom had been updated, but my king room seemed dark with the decor and oddly positioned windows. Expect very busy lobby with airline crews and convention groups coming and going. Lobby needs a decor and lighting refresh. Conveniently attached to a big shopping mall, too. Indoor pool can be viewed from the lobby. Read less

We were disappointed by the frustrating parking experience. While the hotel offers valet parking, there is nowhere to park while you check in. This meant that we spent an additional 17$ while checking in in addition to the 45$ for parking while staying the night. There is nowherr to park outside the hotel so the parking fee is deceiving.

We originally booked a room with two queen beds to accommodate two adults and two children. Upon arrival, we were informed that this room type was no longer available and were instead moved to a room (1430) with one king-size bed and a sofa bed. While we understood the change in availability, we were assured at the time by Joshua at reception that we would receive a discount due to the downgrade in room configuration, that the sofa bed would be prepared, and that a rollaway bed would be sent to the room. Minutes after settling into our room, another family knocked on our door twice, believing it was their assigned room, as they had been given the same room number (they showed us the key jacket). This was extremely unsettling and created confusion and discomfort for our family, especially with children present. Housekeeping never came to the room to make the sofa bed or deliver the rollaway bed, and my husband took it upon himself to go down to reception a couple of hours after check-in to request for the extra bed and for the sofa bed to be made. We tried calling but no one picked up the phone. Housekeeping showed up with sheets and a pillow and my husband was left to make the bed himself for our children. The extra bed never arrived. Upon reviewing our charges after leaving the hotel, we were very surprised and disappointed to see that on top of not receiving a discount, we were actually charged extra for hotel parking even though we did not use it. My husband had parked his car himself and paid for parking directly at the parking lot. The bathroom was also a disappointment. Although we were provided with two bath towels (for four people) , one of them had one large and several small holes—so large that it was essentially unusable. It was frustrating and surprising to see such a damaged towel offered to guests (see attached pictures). We value the Hilton brand and chose DoubleTree expecting a smooth and family friendly experience. Unfortunately, this stay fell short of those expectations and was more reminiscent of an episode of Faulty Towers. Read less
