Excalibur

The Strip, Las Vegas

Star rating

The hotel

This good value on-strip casino hotel boasts an enormous pool area and is home to the must-see Tournament of Kings dinner show, complete with knights on horseback, jousting, pyrotechnics and Merlin himself. Las Vegas’s take on old England, the Excalibur would surprise the Knights of the Round Table. But that’s where it leaves England behind and takes on the world. There’s the all-American casino (with 100,000 sq ft of gaming), games arcade, and branch of Johnny Rockets’ famous hamburger chain. There’s Italy, Mexico and Asia (and a bit more America) in its casual restaurants and food court. And there’s Australia in its ‘Thunder from Down Under’ adult show and Australian Bee Gees tribute concert.

I understand the other tower has already had upgrades so assuming it may be a work in progress. The bed was really comfortable. The hotel itself had plenty of facilities we ate in the sports bar and Dicks Last Resort both server typical American food and the service was good and friendly. We used the pool area each day and pre-booked reserved beds and an umbrella in the Royal Pool which is adults only. The ambiance and service was excellent and made for relaxing days before venturing out at a night time. We went to the Tournament of Kings show. The production was excellent but probably suited a younger audience better. All in all a great base for exploring Las Vegas. My only real gripe is the tipping culture in Vegas as a whole. We are usually fairly generous with our tips for service given but it seems everyone wants a tip for doing very little. Best example I can give was I retrieved 2 small bottles of still water, took them to the cash register, the lady entered the amount in to the register and then I was prompted to leave a tip. I feel I had done most of the work here so should have received the tip myself…..? ;-) Read less

The Excalibur main areas are wonderful. Casino floors are clean, seeing the Tournament of Kings was also great. What wasnt so great was the condition of the room. We stayed in the Royal Tower on the 9th floor. The room had seen better days and hadn't been cleaned properly. Beds were made and comfortable. Bathroom had mold. Even the picture hanging… Read more

Self check in was a slow process and online check in was even more laborious. There was no coffee maker, no ice machine, no fridge, no water fountain. Pool was supposed to be shut until 1st April but was open. There was nothing to entice us to keep us near the hotel. Read less

Paid for “guaranteed early check-in”, arrived at 11:30, app showed “room being prepared…” At 1:15 we went to the self-check in area and asked what the delay was. Advised before 2:00 is “early.” She looked and said that my digital wallet didn’t work, that’s why the room wasn’t ready. She took us to the in-guest services line. Over 40 minutes later,… Read more

Advised before 2:00 is “early.” She looked and said that my digital wallet didn’t work, that’s why the room wasn’t ready. She took us to the in-guest services line. Over 40 minutes later, Karen helped us. First, We could have gone in the priority line, not the regular line. There was nothing wrong with my digital wallet. She wasn’t sure why we hadn’t got a room yet. She removed the guaranteed early check-in fee, since it was now well past 2:00. She also said she put us in for free parking due to veteran status. Get to the room, one key works, the other doesn’t. Toilet won’t flush. Called, switched to another room, but needed to meet someone from security at the 1st floor to get new keys . That person could let us in our new room, but we’d still have to go back to in-guest services to get new keys. We did that. Finally got to room at 3:10. Upon leaving, put the self-parking tag in the machine, had to pay $25. So much for free parking for veteran. Worst check-in experience at a hotel ever. We met our son for dinner (also staying here), he was not happy with check-in process he had either. He had paid for an upgraded room, apparently there was not one. Read less

Mar 22, 2026 Alison B

Spent an extreme amount of time in check in lines. Too many automated machines that only a few people can get to work. More real people needed at the desk.
