Excalibur

The Strip, Las Vegas

Star rating

The hotel

This good value on-strip casino hotel boasts an enormous pool area and is home to the must-see Tournament of Kings dinner show, complete with knights on horseback, jousting, pyrotechnics and Merlin himself. Las Vegas’s take on old England, the Excalibur would surprise the Knights of the Round Table. But that’s where it leaves England behind and takes on the world. There’s the all-American casino (with 100,000 sq ft of gaming), games arcade, and branch of Johnny Rockets’ famous hamburger chain. There’s Italy, Mexico and Asia (and a bit more America) in its casual restaurants and food court. And there’s Australia in its ‘Thunder from Down Under’ adult show and Australian Bee Gees tribute concert.

Very frustrating. I think the staff need to have lessons in customer service will never stay there again. Read less

On entering the hotel we went to the booking in desk but could not get to it and we were told we had to book in electronically on a machine. There was a bank of machines but obviously they were full. When one became available we tried to book in but could not,A lady was there to help but she was so stressed helping every person on the booking in machines she was very rude to us.Apparently we had to have a phone that works in america and as we did not we were sent to guess where, back to the booking desk. The lady told us if we come back next year we would not be able to book in unless we get a usa phone. The lady behind the booking in desk was a bit of a jobsworth and seemed to enjoy making us wait as long as possible. At this point I left matters to my wife as I was a little bit annoyed. It took us about 1 and a half hours to finally get booked in.One reason for this was you have to print your room key with your phone and as we did not have a usa phone it got complicted.Another reason for not booking in was that the people we were with had booked a room with a strip view and although we were passed our three o,clock booking in time the room was not ready. It became available one hour later. One problem with the lifts was because of security you have to use your room key card to access your floor and it will not let you go to any other floor. We had friends on another floor so could not meet them at their room and they could not come to us due to the key situation. Nearly all the staff seemed to be stressed and one of the waitresses was very rude to us as did the booking in staff. This was our third stay at the Excalibur and it will be our last as our initial experience was far from enjoyable plus we have no intention of buying a usa phone just to book in to somewhere we apparently were not wanted. Went to the Tiki Bar having seen it on insta. Very overrated cocktails 18usd in cheap tacky plastic cups. When asked where the fancy tiki glasses and the characters cups which were as displayed in the cocktail menu, we were told it would cost another 25usd to sip out of one of them. We stayed for one drink, never to return again. Venue was nice… Read more

I think we can all agree that the front desk needs a major overhaul. Having paying guests stand in line for hours to check in is totally ridiculous! And while they are standing in line, they are not gambling, buying food or show tickets. The lady guarding the “entry gate” to the stagnant line said they were “short staffed”. Do better! My room in… Read more
