Escape to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach — this retreat sits next to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve and is ideal for a bit of walking, cycling or nature viewing. You'll be welcomed by 26-acres of lush landscaping, before the newly renovated lobby and bar area lure you in with a calm, coastal California chic theme. Directly off the Newporter Lounge, is a comfortable patio with a firewall, hanging lights and magnificent views of the bay — and those views carry through to many of the guest rooms. Take your pick from three beautiful outdoor pools: chill at the adults-only 'Indulge' pool and find a restful spot at the 'Serenity' pool, or have fun with the kids at the 'Oasis' pool. Whether your passion is shopping, dining, boating, or performing arts, you’ll find it close by. Hit the beach, take to the water on Newport Bay, or wander the shops at Balboa Island and Fashion Island. Disneyland, the Aquarium of the Pacific and Laguna Beach are just a little further away.

Laid back, easy to get around and great on site amenities. Drawbacks are potential for noise from neighbors or exposed outside hallway. In our case a wedding on site and noisy neighbors made one night of the stay a bit unpleasant. Overall though it was a peaceful and relaxing stay in a location we would visit again.

Overall great experience as always. Place has tons of potential, but go the extra mile for the families and kids! Those are the most important guests.
Avoid the Lido Building

This hotel previously hosted our annual Employment Law Conference so I had had high expectations. The location was perfect for arrival at SNA. Because I attended for a meeting, wasn't exactly able to check out the whole property. The room I was assigned was in the LIDO building; avoid at all costs. This building felt like I was in a low end -…

Because I attended for a meeting, wasn't exactly able to check out the whole property. The room I was assigned was in the LIDO building; avoid at all costs. This building felt like I was in a low end - Motel 6 as someone previously stated. However, a plus was that it was quiet. Of all the Hyatt Regency's I would say that this was the worst representation of the brand.

This was maybe my 8th stay at this location. My kids love coming here. We always enjoy our stay. We will be back again. Location is starting to get old and could use some updating. Still a great location and we love that you can walk to paddle boarding and kayaking from the hotel. Good morning walks and hikes you can take from there, too. The…

The water slide is just enough for most kids. Rooms are cozy. Great place to stay when the jazz festival is going on.
