Oleo Cancun Playa

Cancun, Mexico

The hotel

The sculptural ice-white architecture and matching monochrome interiors of Óleo Cancún Playa give it a calmness that’s a far cry from the buzz and colour of your setting — right at the start of the famously vibrant Cancún Hotel Zone. The dedication to ‘white’ is only really interrupted by flashes of blue — homage to the sea and surf just steps from the hotel. Overlooking the beach, the infinity pool adds a touch more turquoise, with the pool bar’s tropical-inspired cocktails adding their own shots of colour. You’ve got spa treatments, complimentary WiFi, an art workshop, and restaurant menus that take you from Japan to Mexico and Peru, with stops on the way for comfort food, international favourites, and bakery treats.

It's simple don't go! If you don't tip, they don't treat you well. I'm American and I usually tip, but it becomes unbearable when they expect it from you all the time. We're not ATMs; we're human.

Second time staying at Oleo and it was just as good as we remembered. Great hotel, good food, and lovely staff who always make you feel welcome. A special mention to Gerry at the bar, who was fantastic throughout our stay, always providing excellent service. Looking forward to coming back again.

Plans changed and I booked this hotel just a few days before arrival. I needed a quiet place to crash and refuel for the weekend between business trips. Oleo couldn't have been more perfect! The hotel is very clean, views are gorgeous from common areas (and my room!). And being able to book an all-inclusive rate was important as I didn't want to worry about meals (and their dining plan also included room service). The staff was professional and happy to assist with whatever I needed --cash for tips in USD, directions to restaurants, and the glass of champagne upon arrival was mucho bueno!! It's was helpful to have a mini-fridge and coffee maker in my room. Good news: there's a coffee shop downstairs included in dining plan--bad news: the coffee cup size was really small (like 16 oz?) and lukewarm. Plenty of places to lounge outside from pool deck to beach. The spa was also really nice and has a private pool as well. Great staff there too! I would not hesitate to stay here again. Read less

We had a bad experience at Oleo. I ordered chicken wings for my son because we saw that other guests had them. I was told they were going to check if it was possible. Then, the waiter Francisco approached his colleagues and told them that if I didn’t pay around 70 USD, they wouldn’t serve them to me. I guess he thought I couldn’t understand… Read more

Then, the waiter Francisco approached his colleagues and told them that if I didn’t pay around 70 USD, they wouldn’t serve them to me. I guess he thought I couldn’t understand Spanish, but I actually do. In the end, I found that very rude, and unfortunately my son didn’t get what he wanted. Read less

Amazing place. Francisco is so sweet. Helped celebrate our birthdays with no hassle along with Felipe. Beautiful and calm place. Didn’t feel overwhelmed and loved all the food.
