The hotel

Island Inn is a quaint, 24-room, All Inclusive property situated less than a mile from the centre of Historic Bridgetown and within the Garrison Area — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is footsteps away from the beach at the beautiful Carlisle Bay and Pebbles Beach where the horses come and bathe early morning, and is conveniently close to shops and restaurants. Island Inn will amaze you with its disarming simplicity and old world charm, it was originally built as the rum storage facility for the British regiment in Barbados in 1804! Hit the beautiful big blue, discovering an underwater world that’s just as stunning as what lies above! The swimming pool makes a change from the beach and is a charming place to lounge beside, soaking up the sun or reading a good book. There’s also The Boardwalk Restaurant for eclectic dining, serving dishes regarded as very special by locals and guests alike. Evenings tend to be very low key although there is live music three times a week plus a weekly manager’s rum punch party to meet and mingle with fellow guests.

We couldn’t stay even one night and lost $2400! We called Island Inn Before we booked (and paid) to make sure they could accommodate my celiac disease and were Promised twice the chef is sensitive to food allergies. It’s all inclusive so this was a huge selling point for my husband’s 75th birthday trip, because if I get glutened I’m sick for a week. Yes, I bring my whatever gf food I can but that’s obviously not enough. When we checked in after 36 hours traveling the reception said we only have a buffet so maybe I can eat a baked potato.. at this point I asked to speak to the chef and she said No, she’ll email him. We were showed our room that was so musty I wanted to open the window but with the lack of screens and the barbed wire 3 feet away we were nervous to. We were offered another room by the manager but obviously that doesn’t address my celiac needs. We were Lucky to book at the Radisson across the street. They were fantastic and totally accommodated my celiac disease. I went back, called, pleaded with Island Inn staff, who referred me to their sister property, Mango Inn, that they said handles refunds, and I was blocked every time by staff. Thank goodness for the Concierge, Akila, at the Radisson, who was so amazing, and professional. They took us in when we felt homeless. We didn’t get Back A Penny from the Island Inn, not even a phone call or an apology. They stink!!! Read less

I absolutely love this small hotel as the staff are personal centred , remember your name , what you like to drink, and are so personable and polite. The ladies that run the kitchen are so lovely and it’s nice hearing them laughing and loving what they do together as a team. Nothing is too much and whilst there chef Karla cooked us our barracuda that we caught on a fishing trip. Hopeful one day to get married there as it’s my new favourite place 🥰, thank you island inn , you knock the spots off your sister hotels for me . Read less

The room was large with a walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom. The staff are excellent, friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
