Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

This is our favorite Resort in the Riviera Maya. We came for our Anniversary and (as usual) had a really nice time. We had a great Conceirge (Araceli for building 7) who made sure we had items we preferred in our minibar and room. We like to sit and read at the beach and really appreciated the amazing service from Israel who went above and beyond to make sure we had plenty of food and drinks. We recently stayed at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya to celebrate my birthday with two other couples, and overall we had a wonderful experience. The standout feature of this resort is the staff. Every employee we encountered went above and beyond to make sure guests felt welcome and well cared for. Their attention to detail and genuine friendliness made a great vacation even better. The food was consistently very good, with plenty of variety and quality throughout our stay. We also enjoyed several of the activities offered by the resort. Mario’s water aerobics class was a highlight and provided a lot of laughs and fun. I also participated in the guacamole demonstration with Alan, Andrea, and Lucia, which was both entertaining and informative. We upgraded to the Preferred Club and were glad we did. The additional restaurant access, lounge amenities, and reserved beach area added to the overall experience and provided some nice extra touches throughout our stay. The resort itself is beautiful. The grounds are meticulously maintained, the lush tropical landscaping is stunning, and the setting feels peaceful and relaxing from the moment you arrive. The only real downside was the sargassum on the beach, which was particularly heavy during our visit. However, this is clearly a natural issue beyond the resort’s control. To their credit, the staff worked tirelessly throughout the day to remove as much as possible and keep the beach looking its best. The exceptional staff, great food, and overall experience made this a memorable birthday trip. Perhaps the best compliment we can give is that before our vacation was even over, we were already discussing a return visit. We would not hesitate to come back and would happily recommend Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya to others looking for a relaxing getaway with outstanding service. Read less

Everyone on your staff were the nicest people. Karen our concierge and beach waiters Hose’ and Diago and Francisco ,Agustin,Alejandro and bartender Ivan at the pool and Baracuda bar were fantastic. At the Seaside,Jimmy the manager was awesome as well as Alberto, Gil,and the chef and Sylvester were great we ate breakfast there every day. Snorkeling we had Oscar and Mario super time very nice. Franco with security and Alexa the hostess at Seaside were great. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and plan to return soon. Read less

Our second stay at Secrets Akumal was even better than the first, and it truly feels like we’ve found our home away from home. The staff constantly welcomes us back with a warm “welcome home” and treats us like family. After 14 trips to Mexico (including 10 visits to the same resort before discovering Secrets Akumal), this resort stands out above the rest. There are so many incredible team members who made our 11-day anniversary trip unforgettable: Anthony (Entertainment Team) – Anthony was absolutely amazing! Every time he saw us, he went out of his way to greet us, joke around, and make us laugh. He even painted a picture for us for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful and personal gesture. He truly made our stay even more special. Antonio (Pool Concierge) – Antonio took care of us almost every day of our trip. He always made sure we had fresh towels, kept our umbrella positioned perfectly for shade, and constantly kept us smiling with his sense of humor. He made every pool day fun. Johana (Preferred Club Lounge) – Johana is an absolute sweetheart. She served us almost daily in the Preferred Club Lounge and was always professional, kind, and welcoming. One day I wasn’t feeling well and had to return to my room. She went above and beyond by sending a stomach care package with teas and herbal remedies to help me feel better. That level of care meant so much. Her level of kindness cannot be matched and we will seek her out again next year. Aron (Preferred Concierge) – Aron helped us with our room upgrade during the second half of our stay. He went above and beyond to find the perfect room for our needs. Every time we saw him, he greeted us with a smile and made us feel like valued family members returning home. We absolutely loved Aron!! Karime (Housekeeping, Building 5) – Karime was exceptional. I was genuinely sad when we moved buildings because her level of service was unmatched. One day while we were relaxing in the deck pool, she noticed our balcony was wet and thoughtfully placed a bath mat outside so we wouldn’t slip. She was always smiling, kind, and meticulous with her work. Our room was never so clean as when we had Karime. Stephanie (Restaurant Hostess) – Stephanie was always friendly, welcoming, and helped make every dining experience enjoyable. I think she must work all hours of the day we saw her at all different times and she always was so pleasant. Luis (Manager at Oceana) – Luis made sure our anniversary dinner was perfect. He spent time talking with us and even surprised us with two steaks that weren’t on the menu. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the evening unforgettable. The food and drinks throughout the resort were fantastic. The Italian restaurant was our favorite by far—we loved it so much that we ate there 4 of our 11 nights! We also liked that the entertainment was different than what we saw last year. They were always fun and we enjoyed the shows. The pool entertainment was great too! Everyone of the staff would always say hello as we passed by. We also noted the camaraderie among the staff. Always fist bumping and smiling was contagious. We also noted multiple staff there from last year that tells us that they like working there. Our only minor critique was after moving to Building 4 on day 6. Housekeeping service was often much later in the day, and we had to request morning service almost daily. Sometimes it was accommodated, while other times we needed to contact the concierge to have the room serviced while we were at dinner. It certainly wasn’t a major issue, but it was the only area that didn’t match the exceptional service we experienced everywhere else. Overall, everything about this trip was wonderful. The staff is truly 10/10, and the level of service, friendliness, and genuine care is what sets Secrets Akumal apart. We already can’t wait to return in the spring and create even more memories with the incredible people who make this resort so special. Read less
