This was mine and my boyfriends 2nd trip to Secrets Akumal and having been to a few different Secrets/Dreams resorts I can say this one for me, is the best of the best. We booked this trip pretty much as soon as we returned from the first one so that says a lot. Unless you're very picky I dont think you could find much at fault in this resort, the food, the people that work there, the atmosphere, the wildlife the scenery the live music events they put on regularly it's all 10/10 - it is defintely a pricier trip especially when travelling from the UK but in terms of an all inclusive you get so much for your money. Even the room service (which is all included) which we used on the rainy days is some of the best i've ever had. Bring mosquito repellent - our first trip in December I hardly got bitten but this time (end of September/early October) I was covered in bites, my partner didnt get bit as much so maybe I was just unlucky. We didn't do preferred either trip as I honestly dont think its necessary unless the upgrade charge is very minimal for you. This resort has so much on offer for non-preferred guests and the people that work here treat everyone like VIP. If you're coming from the UK please do be prepared to tip - everyone works incredibly hard here and they do everything with a smile on their face which isnt always easy in the heat with demanding (and sometimes rude) guests. Very VERY small criticism would be that having booked this trip almost a year in advance and letting them know it'd be my birthday celebration I had requested to stay in the exact same ocean view room we had stayed in previously, of course they cannot guarantee anything but I was hoping for the best. Unfortunately when we arrived we were assigned a different room which in itself would have been fine however, we were on the 4th floor rather than the 5th and even though we had booked an ocean view room - there was no view of the ocean at all from our room. The ocean view was blocked by the trees/greenery which is also a stunning view, but again, we'd paid extra for ocean view. This was eventually resolved and we were given a room on the 5th floor but this was 3 nights into our trip which is a little frustrating have to pack/un-pack. My advice to the resort would be not to assign ocean view rooms on the 4th floor as the view is obstructed. To name some people specifically - Gina our concierge was amazing and helped my boyfriend organise some special things for my birthday. She was super friendly and helpful and even managed to get us some pool floaties that other people had left behind. She is building 7 (which we have stayed in both times) and we will likely ask to stay in this building if we're lucky enough to come again. Perla in the spa was amazing, I booked her for my birthday morning massage, she made it extra special and was honestly the best way to start the day. I'm not usually a massage/spa person on holiday but we managed to agree a good deal. The whole spa area is beautiful and makes you feel extremely relaxed. Last but certainly not least is our good friend Max on the entertainment team. Secrets - if you're reading this, Max is one of the main reasons we chose to return to this resort the 2nd time. He made us feel so at home, went above and beyond in every way to make both our trips special. He came to find us on my birthday and gave me the most amazing treats as well as cake which was 10000/10. He is a bright light and we're very grateful to have met him during our time here. Max is a true leader and cares deeply not only about all of the guests, but also his team members. His people skills are unmatched and something you gain not just from experience but a true love for the job he does. We hope to see Max's hard work pay off, and elevate his status at the resort, if (when!) we return to Secrets Akumal it will again be largely due to Max and others like him who made our trip more than just another 'holiday'. **Our Second Stay at Secrets Akumal - Presidential Suite with Preferred Club** This marks our second visit to Secrets Akumal, and once again my wife and I chose the Presidential Suite with Preferred Club access. After experiencing it the first time, we honestly wouldn't consider staying any other way. **Arrival & Transportation** We flew Spirit at 7am on Wednesday, October 15th with front row seats – the flight was quick and uneventful. We used Amstar VIP for our transfer and rode in a 2025 Escalade with an excellent driver who was both friendly and professional. I highly recommend their service if you're looking for reliable transportation. **Check-In & Accommodations** Check-in at the Preferred VIP section was efficient and welcoming. Our Presidential Suite was ready by 10:31am, which worked out perfectly since we had just finished breakfast at the buffet. The thoughtful touches in our suite set the tone for our anniversary celebration. **Outstanding Staff** The staff at Secrets Akumal truly elevated our experience and are a major reason we keep returning. Our butlers Annie (first day) and Richardo Gonzalez (remainder of the week) were both wonderful, with Richardo consistently going above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Our beach butler, Alejandro Guerrero, deserves special recognition. The beach service he provided was the best we've experienced at any resort worldwide. From delivering fresh fruit daily at 11am to providing water for washing our feet, the attention to detail was remarkable. Yasmin handled our nightly turndown service with equal care and professionalism. **Beach Experience** We spent most of our time at a Bali bed on the preferred side, which offered an unobstructed view of the beautiful water. Watching guests snorkel and paddleboard while enjoying personalized service with mojitos and fresh coconut water was truly amazing. The tamales at breakfast were delicious – I had four of them. This remains the finest beach experience we've encountered at any resort. **Presidential Suite & Preferred Club Benefits** The Presidential Suite with Preferred Club access represents a significant investment, but the value is undeniable. The exclusive amenities – dedicated beach area, VIP dining options, butler service, and priority reservations – combine to create an experience that justifies the premium. Having stayed this way twice now, I can confidently say it's the only way we'll visit Secrets Akumal. **Spa Services** We booked two 80-minute spa sessions during our stay. My wife's massage therapist, Nely, was so impressive that she requested her specifically for the second appointment. The quality of service was superb and the spa experience was a perfect complement to our anniversary celebration. **Dining** The breakfast buffet consistently delivered quality options each morning. Those tamales I mentioned earlier were phenomenal. Beach dining exceeded expectations, especially the hamburgers and fries. We also enjoyed dinner at Seaside Grill and the Greek restaurant exclusive to Preferred Club members. Room service was convenient when we preferred a quiet evening in our suite, and the chocolate-covered strawberries that appeared in our room were a nice touch. **Final Thoughts** This was our second stay at Secrets Akumal in the Presidential Suite with Preferred Club access, and we're already planning our return. The combination of pristine beaches, outstanding staff (particularly Richardo Gonzalez and Alejandro Guerrero), luxurious accommodations, and thoughtful service throughout our stay made this anniversary trip truly memorable. For anyone considering Secrets Akumal, I strongly recommend investing in the Preferred Club access. While the Presidential Suite is incredible, even the standard Preferred Club benefits alone significantly enhance the overall experience. We're already looking forward to trip number three. **5 out of 5 stars - Highly Recommended** Read less

My husband and I stayed at the Secrets Akumal from Oct 9 - 19 in Building 5 and thoroughly enjoyed the 10 days at the resort. We have stayed at many all inclusive resorts in Mexico and Costa Rica, and this resort far exceeded all of them. For each building there is a concierge who ensured we had everything we needed. It was my 60th birthday and the staff decorated our room with balloons, streamers and a sign on the door, and a little birthday cake, which I thought was really going above and beyond. Thank you Araceli Ramirez - you were awesome ! Thank you also to our housekeeper - Dulce who did an amazing job every day. There are 3 pools at the resort and we spent most of our time at the quiet pool or at the beach. For each location there was also a concierge to help with finding pool chairs and handing out towels for the chairs, and also cold cloths, would clean our sun glasses for us, and generally ensuring we were happy! Thank you to Jose and Luis! Thank you also to Ana and Abraham who served us drinks. We did the snorkel tour and saw turtles, sting rays and several other fish. Was well worth it. Restaurants were all fabulous and the one we visited the most was Himitsu, the Japanese restaurant. The food was fantastic at all restaurants. The service was excellent as well and for each dish the server did not just put the plate in front of us, but described in detail what was being served, like they do in fine dining restaurants. I loved that they all took great pride in their jobs. When sitting at the pool there would be an ice cream cart or a cart with fresh fruit that came around. A very nice added touch ! I found generally all the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Sometimes I could not find my way around and a staff member escorted me to where I was going. I used the gym a couple of times and there is a Peloton there which was great ! Also, there is a gym attendant who was very helpful in setting up the Peloton. I want to send a special thanks to the following employees because they were exceptional. Thank you for your contribution in making our vacation a great experience: Araceli - Building 5 Concierge Dulce - Housekeeping Jose - Pool Concierge Luis - Beach Concierge (PClub) Max and Adi - Snorkel Tour Ana - Server Pool and Beach Abraham - Server Pool Antonio - El Patio Server Maria - Market Cafe hostess Naoemi - Himitsu hostess Bike tour team also fantastic but I did not record their names. They were very entertaining! Overall, our vacation experience at the Secrets Akumal was everything we had hoped for and more and a perfect way to celebrate my 60th. I highly recommend this resort for anyone with high standards ! Read less
