The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

First trip to Mauritius for my wife and I. What a stunning island, but the jewel in the crown was undoubtedly the Zilwa Attitude Hotel. From the moment we arrived, every member of the Zilwa Attitude staff were so warm, welcoming, polite and professional and managed to achieve this without being overbearing and we all so approachable, helpful and caring. We stayed for 11 nights and made full use of the fantastic selection of restaurants and activities offered by the Zilwa Attitude. We celebrated a birthday while we were there and upon returning to our room, the bed had been decorated, which was an amazing and very thoughtful touch, which made the stay even more memorable and special. Unfortunately, I did not manage to get the name of the staff member who was responsible for servicing our room to say thank you personally, but if the management could find out who was responsible for room 1215 between 18th and 29th September 2025 and recognise their action as it really was amazing. Whilst we visited all of the on site restaurants and found all excellent, the food was fresh, very good selection, not processed and all of top quality, I must make special mention to certain restaurants and staff there. Once seated, your glass was never empty and the service nothing short of efficient and professional and the staff attentive. KARAY - the 'main' buffet restaurant. Buffets can be questionable sometimes, but not in Karay. The list of dishes available were displayed in advance and the choice was second to none. The chefs were visible and keeping a close eye on the dishes available. Again, everything was fresh, of good quality and above all, everything was clean. TADKA - indian restaurant, one of the speciality restaurants; you needed to book in advance for the speciality restaurants, but this was no problem and we never encountered any problems with availability. We visited Tadka twice while there and the head chef even took time to speak to all guests, which I found very thoughtful and reinforced the personal touch. I must also make a special mention to Dooshita who served us. Dooshita was so warm, pleasant and always smiling and took the time to explain the dishes on offer. This made the difference between very good and excellent. The food was absolutely top notch and the experience made so much better by the members of the team who went over and above, whilst taking it in their stride. LOS DIRAB - the beach buffet and restaurant. By day, Los Dirab served a lunchtime buffet, which was nothing short of top notch, freshly cooked chicken and fish as well as a selection of hot and cold foods, all fresh and of high quality. By night, Los Dirab served a dual purpose as a restaurant and a beach restaurant, the beach restaurant at an additional charge, which was reasonable and worth it, particularly for a special occasion. We celebrated the above mentioned birthday on the beach, by candlelight and were made to feel so valued and special making a special day, perfect. We also visited the 'normal' Los Dirab restaurant on more than one occasion [in no small part because the Tempura Prawn starter was absolutely fantastic and the beef tenderloin was arguably the best steak I have ever tasted] and Los Dirab is a hidden gem and I must make special mention to Ashley who went over and above and ensured his guests were taken good care of and never had an empty glass. Ashley was so professional, polite and a credit to the Zilwa Attitude Hotel and deserves recognition for his efforts. The Mauritian and Thai [Manao] restaurants were also top notch, the respective staff explaining the dishes and answering any questions with clarity and knowledge. There was also a 'private island' [Isle Zil] reached by boat, where you needed to book [again, availability was no problem] and there was a bar and barbecue of fresh fish, chicken and beef. You were welcomed by the staff there and believe me, relaxing on a private island, on white sand facing turquoise waters was an absolutely tremendous experience. The hotel rooms had a mini bar/fridge in, which was empty. The idea, which worked very well, was you went to the bulk store and took what you needed. The lady there, Atiffah, is an unsung hero of the Zilwa Attitude, always there to ensure you had the snacks and drinks you wished for your room. SIROKANN - the main bar of the hotel. SiroKann was the focal point of the hotel, being the main bar. The cocktails were fantastic and the service was equally as good. Your glass was never empty and the staff were all cheerful, efficient and professional, whilst maintaining the personal touch. I must make special mention to Niraj, Anniketh and Kulpy. They all made the most amazing cocktails and ensured your glass was never empty, but that is not to say that other members of bar staff were not in any way good! When we first arrived, we overheard that the hotel was at high occupancy, however, the hotel is so well designed and spread out and importantly well thought out, we never struggled to find a sun lounger, either on the beaches or round the pools and considering the hotel was at high occupancy, it never seemed full or busy which really reinforced the chilled out vibe and made our stay so relaxing and memorable. The hotel and our room was impeccably clean. There were small attentions to detail that made the stay so memorable and of note, we vacated our room at 1200 but were not being collected for transfer to the airport at 1800. A simple call to reception had our cases collected and we were still able to use all facilities and a shower room was provided to freshen up before leaving for the airport. Whilst not a member of Zilwa Attitude staff, I much also mention Victor; Victor is affiliated to the hotel and is a taxi driver/tour guide. He offers tours of the island and various other days out, all reasonably priced and Victor, whilst is NOT a member of Zilwa Attitude staff and as stated is affiliated to the hotel, clearly has connections and can arrange a wide variety of activities and excursions and is very knowledgable and a true gentlemen, also ensuring his guests are looked after. Victor can be found on Facebook - Mauritius Taxi Service at Zilwa Attitude Hotel, Bhia Vijay [Victor] and again, I would highly recommend contacting Victor for his wide range of trips. Why Zilwa Attitude is 'only' a 4 star hotel is questionable. 5 stars is far more appropriate. We cannot fault the Zilwa Attitude Hotel. The location, cleanliness, the staff, the food were all of the highest order and we would not hesitate to offer high recommendation and have absolutely no hesitation to book a return visit to one of the most stunning and beautiful places ever visited. Absolutely fantastic experience at the Zilwa Attitude Hotel, without a doubt one of the finest holidays we have ever had. Read less

The best bartender at the hotel is Arvind! He takes excellent care of the guests and always has everything and everyone in sight. Extremely friendly, attentive, and charming. We loved our stay here, but without Arvind it would have only been half as enjoyable!
