The hotel

Great as a base, the Avanti Resort is set in the heart of International Drive, in the middle of all the attractions and entertainment you could ask for. Not only are you right there for all the major theme parks, but you’ve also got movie theatres, restaurants galore, clubs and bars to cover the whole family’s entertainment. There's plenty to enjoy at the resort as well, with a large pool, sandy man-made beach with sun terrace and loungers, a gym, and a games room for the youngsters. You might want to extend your holiday to fit all of that in!

652 rooms. All with air-conditioning, flat-screen cable TV, coffee maker, mini-fridge, microwave, hairdryer, iron and board. Standard Rooms have either 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Accessible rooms available on request, subject to availability.

Exactly at 10 when they are supposed to close (Thursday schedule) another couple stopped by to which he also greated with enthusiasm and served them. He then continued to serve us as he was closing, cleaning and taking inventory. His customer service was another level and the drinks were amazing too. My overall experience at the hotel was great thanks to him. Honestly whatever this man is making isn't enough! What an asset to have within your team/ company. We turned up to the Hotel at 8pm after the long flight from LHR, All booked via Virgin holidays, I knew it was nothing special but good location so wasn't expecting much. Went to check in after being up for 20 hours waited 20 min to get to the desk, there was two other people at the desks and 3 staff, no idea why it took so long, And then to be told they didn't have us booked until the following day, even though i had my booking confirmation they 'didn't have it on there system' they then forced me to pay out for one night at the long flight and travelling i was not in the mood for arguing, Told to pay out for the extra night and then if my booking confirmation was correct they would refund me but it was down to me to sort out there mess. Now this was not a good start, surely any one with any customer service would have said ' we'll give you the room tonight and we will sort it out with virgin tomorrow ' I did get a refund after i spoked to Virgin and told them to sort it out and it was the hotels fault for not adding the extra night than i had booked 3 months before. The room itself : Basic.... Looks like they have tried to smarten it up but obviously done on a small budget with bathroom tiles and the bath itself painted ..... the bath was not nice with chips and marks all inside the tub. Bed was reasonably comfortable, coffee machine ( coffee bags that you put in ) made rather awful weak coffee. The rooms had people come every day to make the beds and replace the towels, I cant be confident that the bed lining was changed more than once as i dripped coffee on the top sheet and that stain stayed there for at least 7 days. Didn't seem to be fully cleaned as the floor stayed dirty leaving out feet black. Two main issues with the room where the air con/heating which was very very noisy and the Noise from other guests and the i4 road a constant sound of traffic all though the night, when i spoke to reception on the first morning to re check in ( which we had to do due to there cock up the night before) I mentioned the noise and it was suggested we paid for a upgraded room in block 4 which had double glazing ... I declined the offer of giving them more money. Again poor customer service you should be able to sleep without that sort of constant noise in a hotel. The Safe in the room: Batteries where held in by gaffer tape which as i expected popped out while closed so had to spend 2 hours getting maintenance in to find the master key unlock it and pop a bit more gaffer tape on ..... things like this should not be happening. There are included transfers to Disney and Universal ( apparently its a Universal Partner hotel) However for the Disney transfers you have to go on line and book every day, going to Disney are 750am and 935am the return Transfers 755pm 1005pm ( ish) very rarely did they turn up on time, one day it didn't turn up at all then 30 min later a mini bus came picked us up and took us to the bus which was waiting at another resort, the ride to and from disney was a thrill ride in itself speeding about hitting curbs and harsh breaking, twice going to disney the bus stopped at the side of the road for the driver to go and top up the coolant .... The Universal transfers where better however booking them was a hassle, no online booking system these had to be booked at the concierge in reception no more than 24 hours in advance no less than 30 min, this would of been fine but the hotel only had the concierge from 7am -11am most days meaning you had to get up at 7am and go and book that days transport, One day the person at Concierge wasnt there at 7 am or 730 am or 8 am asking the receptionists they said 'oh they haven't turned up ' no other explanation..... No 'we will call and find out whats going on ' eventually at 840am they appeared looking like they had a hard night the night before .... service at the Hotel was poor staff didn't really know anything about the area where anything was etc, The cleaners looked over worked with ( from what we saw) one cleaner for the whole block of rooms they didnt get to us on the 3rd floor untill 4pm each day. They did however give us more coffee bags when i left them a little note. The 'Restaurant ' ( in very loose terms) was good for a breakfast snack however we did whiteness a customer going full on male Karen at the cook ( was the only person in there at the time) with no manager about this aggressive man was going 'ape Siht' we felt very sorry for the guy behind the counter. My final thoughts are its a very basic hotel, Staff are rather un experienced and the customer service is not good, there are cheaper and better places to stay on Idrive we would not stay there again. I have lodged a complaint with Virgin Holidays ( who we booked this though) who have said that the hotel is not very forthcoming with information regarding my complaint Read less

Great venue for our customer event. Lynnette and team assisted all the way from booking to hosting. Alll went really smooth. Food and beverages high quality and very appreciated. The venue setup was good and the digital infrastructure in place with screens, music etc.

I'm honestly never someone who writes reviews but this was my third time staying here and I probably won't return. Room was dirty (shampoo still on the walls/shower curtain, tags on the floor, glitter on the vanity), bathtub had a crack in it that was leaking water and if you stepped towards it the hole would get bigger, bedding was stained, etc.… Read more

Like I mentioned before, this was my third time using this hotel and usually I love it and recommend it to others. This time not so much. It seems like a gradual decrease in the quality of the rooms and the facility and for the price I paid, is very disappointing. Read less
