Staff was great, ambiance was great, location was great. The last time I stayed here was when the grotto was still present, I was sad to see it gone, but appreciate the pool deck space they created. Wish the poolside beverages were a little less expensive and wish there was a small drink menu near the loungers for people to look at and order from. Probably would sell more drinks and food if they did that. I'll be back though, I really enjoy the place. Read less

We were excited to return to the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa after having spent our honeymoon at this property 25 years ago. Connor Mowat and the Hyatt Team made our stay magical and most special. We were warmly welcomed by the front desk female attendant, who graciously took our photo for us. The check-in process was quick and efficient. As World of Hyatt members, we sincerely appreciated the upgrade to a beautiful ocean front room. Loved the room layout, with the toilet & tub separated from the double sink vanity area. Custom closet area with drawers & room for hanging, plus plenty of storage for luggage. All the staff members we encountered on property (whether it be in the elevator, passing in hallway or atrium, poolside, etc.) were friendly, engaging, and wore a smile. Spent a lot of time by the pool, and while there were a lot of guests on deck, the pool itself never felt crowded. The atrium African Penguins and birds were a big hit with our family. We especially enjoyed the Penguin Presentation at the Penguin habitat by the animal attendant at 9:30am every morning. Dinner at the onsite restaurant, 'Umalu, was delicious. The bartenders suggested the perfect poolside drinks during the day. We attended the Drums of the Pacific onsite Luau and it was just as fantastic as it was 25 years ago... all you can eat & drink, and the performers were fantastic! Our server, Rick, was incredibly attentive and quick with requests. The property location is convenient to nearby Whaler's Village shopping & restaurants. We walked the ocean front boardwalk from the property, down Ka'anapali Beach, to the Village... made for a really nice stroll. Lahaina grocery store is about a mile or so the other direction, so super convenient. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience at this property. Read less
