BED BUGS IN THE ROOMS! I stayed at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista in Orlando, FL for 8 nights while attending a professional conference. Unfortunately, my experience took a dramatic turn on the 6th night when I discovered a live bed bug in my room. I immediately reported it to the front desk. Security and housekeeping came up and confirmed it was, indeed, a live bed bug. My room was then blocked off for inspection, and I was allowed to move rooms with just enough clothing for the next day. The following day, I was informed that the inspector found two additional bed bugs in the headboard. I was shocked, concerned, and suddenly facing the overwhelming possibility of bringing bed bugs back to my home — a very serious issue for anyone, let alone a mother of six living in rural Alaska where pest treatment resources are extremely limited. When I tried to speak with management about compensation and assistance — even just to get my tennis shoes for a planned outing that evening — the response I received was deeply disappointing. I was told the hotel would only refund the original card used for the room, which was not mine. I explained that I could not access those funds since the accommodations had been paid for on my behalf. I also explained that I had purchased a new suitcase filled with clothes for my six children, which now all needed to be treated. The manager said the only reimbursement they could offer was $4 for the laundry machines. After a confirmed bed bug infestation, I was understandably uncomfortable using any in-house laundry facilities. I still have not unpacked my belongings in fear of bringing bugs into my home. I shared that the situation was now preventing me from attending parts of my $1500 conference, and from enjoying the few vacation activities I had planned. Instead, I was consumed with the logistics and fear of bringing pests home to my family. I expressed that if I couldn’t get help directly, I might have to share my experience publicly through social media or the news — which I believe is my right to do. Shockingly, the manager accused me that telling her I’m going to social media is threatening her, and warned that I would be trespassed if I said it again. Going to social media (and saying I will do so) is not a threat. To make matters worse, she then called who she believed to be my boss — while I was still in the middle of dealing with this — and told them I was threatening her and that they were needed at the front desk. When my colleague arrived, I calmly explained what I had actually said and emphasized that I simply want to share my own experience. My colleague agrees that’s not a threat. I also asked the manager if I could record our conversation and acknowledged Florida’s two-party consent laws — I asked for her consent, which she refused, but this clearly was not a secretive or hostile request. Her reaction was unprofessional, and her willingness to involve my employer was completely inappropriate. It felt like an attempt to intimidate me or jeopardize my employment — all while I was exhausted, and in the middle of a very real health and safety crisis. Throughout this, I repeatedly expressed that I was deeply worried about the safety implications of having slept in a bed bug-infested bed. This was completely disregarded. The hotel’s response showed a shocking lack of empathy, accountability, and professionalism. If you’re considering staying here — especially with children, or for business travel — I urge you to reconsider. The staff may be friendly at the front desk, but if you encounter any real issues, especially something as serious as bed bugs, management will not have your back. This experience has left me emotionally distressed and financially impacted — all because I trusted this hotel for what should have been a safe, comfortable, and professional stay. This has been an overwhelmingly awful situation and threats to be trespassed from a hotel because they would not try to resolve the bed bug issue is something I would never have imagined to be reality. The lady that checked me in said that all she had available was a pool view. I do not have a view of the pool, I have a view of the roof of the bulding next to my hotel and a view of the corner of the pool to the left. This hotel is not cheap for the type of service & view that I got from the room, because they charge hidden fees when you check in as well. I will NEVER be staying here again. Read less

Hotel location is great, and all of the staff members that I dealt with were fantastic. The hotel itself however needs some serious improvement. Elevators were not working for part of my stay and other parts of the hotel just seemed to be in a constant state of disrepair. Maintenance men always fixing something at all hours of the day, coming out of the elevator with a whole door, constantly drilling and repairing. One of the rooms right by where we parked had sewage being pumped out of it with the workers lounging on the bed and the couch. Lastly, the floor that I stayed had plates of food that people had set outside their rooms in the hallway left sitting out there all day/night. It seems that the hotel needs a complete overhall. I would not return for anything other than the location and even when it comes to the location there are better hotel options nearby. Read less

I stayed at the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area (1850 B Hotel Plaza Blvd, Lake Buena Vista, FL) for a week while attending a Conscious Discipline training. My job covered seven days, and I personally paid for one extra night to extend my stay through Sunday. The training ended Friday, and most people checked out Saturday. Since I stayed the extra night, my check-out was scheduled for Sunday. After being out all day Saturday on a group tour, I returned to my room around 10:30 PM exhausted, only to find that my room key no longer worked—and to my shock, the windows were wide open, lights were on, and all of my personal belongings were exposed. I went to the front desk to resolve the issue, and unfortunately, I was met with extreme rudeness and unprofessionalism by the front desk staff, particularly a man named Danilo da Silva. When I explained the situation, he bluntly said, “You were supposed to check out today,” even after I told him I had paid for an extra night. He didn’t ask to verify anything kindly or even offer to check the system—he just insisted I was wrong. When I told him I had proof of my reservation but it was locked in the room, he responded coldly, “I’ll send security,” and refused to assist further. He made me feel like I was bothering him. After security finally let me in, I grabbed my documents and returned to show him the confirmation and receipts, including proof that my organization paid thousands for the stay and I personally covered my extra night. Only then did he admit that the bill had been split—but not once did he apologize for the mistake or for the way I was treated. This experience was incredibly disappointing. Conscious Discipline is an outstanding organization that brings together professionals from all over the country, and it was frustrating to see such a great event hosted in a hotel where the customer service was severely lacking. I don’t think I’ve ever been treated with such disregard at a hotel—especially after paying out of pocket and through an employer that spent thousands. I sincerely hope Wyndham takes this feedback seriously. No one deserves to be locked out of their room with no notice, treated with disrespect, or made to feel like a burden. I will be reporting this to my employer and to Conscious Discipline, and I strongly recommend that future events not be held at this hotel unless improvements are made in how guests are treated. The only thing that really bummed me out is they do not take grocery orders if you’re not there. I understand not being able to store cold items, but I had a small target delivery that included medication I needed. The poor woman was turned away because I wasn’t there yet and she had to take it all back to the store. I’ve stayed at numerous hotels at Disney and this is the first that has ever done this.
