Imagine a place where the sun shines for 232 days of the year, you’re just a few miles from the world’s greatest theme parks, and you can come face-to-face with some of the most spectacular natural beauty in North America by just stepping outside your hotel. Welcome to Kissimmee, (pronounced ‘ki-simi’) where you can bump into Mickey Mouse around the corner, or hop on an airboat to buzz around Shingle Creek Regional Park and say hi to the ‘gators’. It’s a great mix of charming ‘Mom and Pop’ America, quality entertainment, and raw nature at her very best. You’ll also get that typically warm Floridan welcome everywhere you go, and giant breakfasts that’ll make your eyes pop!
Sure, a lot of people book Kissimmee holidays as a great base for ‘doing the theme parks’, but there’s so much more to this part of Florida than just the Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot. You’ve got retro-style shopping, 1950s American Diners, hiking trails, traditional fairgrounds, and wonderfully-named beauty spots like Boggy Creek (which is so much better than it sounds — trust us). Whether you’re looking for an all-inclusive Florida holiday, a chance to experience the ‘real’ America, or are taking the kids to Walt Disney World Resort for that once-in-a-lifetime experience, Kissimmee is definitely right at the top of our Florida favourites list.

Spoiler alert: it's just a hop, skip, and a sunshine-soaked jump away! Kissimmee is located just 22 miles south of Orlando, Florida, making it the perfect base for your Central Florida adventure. That’s only about a 30-minute drive, depending on traffic.
Walt Disney World Resort is actually closer to Kissimmee than downtown Orlando. Located just minutes from the heart of Kissimmee, Disney World’s main entrance is only about 10 to 15 miles away, depending on where you’re staying in town. That’s just a 15-20 minute drive.
If you’re dreaming of Atlantic Ocean surf, Cocoa Beach is your closest bet—just about 70 miles east of Kissimmee, or roughly a 1-hour drive. It’s perfect for a seaside day trip with family, surfboards, or a chilled-out beach chair in tow.
Whether you’re in it for the thrills, the food, or the Florida feels, there’s no shortage of exciting things to do in Kissimmee.
Airboat rides and wildlife encounters:
Swap castles for gators and hop on an Everglades airboat ride across Lake Tohopekaliga (locals just call it Lake Toho). Keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles, turtles, and yes—Florida’s famous alligators.
Old Town Kissimmee:
Step back in time at Old Town, where classic car shows, vintage shops, carnival rides, and live music serve up a retro-cool vibe every night of the week.
Shopping and dining:
From designer outlets to local boutiques and international eats, Kissimmee has something for every taste and travel style. Think big flavor, no fuss.
Outdoor fun:
Zipline safari through the treetops or kayak through lush wetlands, Kissimmee is packed with natural beauty and Instagram-worthy moments.
With everything just a smooth ride away on major highways like Interstate 4, and State Roads 417 and 528, getting around is a breeze. Why not hire a car and take the wheel of your own adventure?
